My husband took his mistress to my son’s birthday party and threw me out.
The envelope Elias found contained no medical records.
It contained the original invoices from a “digital services agency” specializing in forging legal and medical documents.
At the top of the package was a handwritten note from Sienna: “Thomas, Elias’s DNA is ready. I used your grandson’s samples to make it look compatible with me. Bianca won’t suspect a thing until it’s too late to defend herself.”
I looked up at the newspaper and then at Thomas.
He was trying to slip out the side exit, but two of my colleagues, who had witnessed the whole scene, were blocking his way.
“Where are you going, Thomas?” I asked as the anger finally exploded, giving way to a frosty clarity.
“We’ve just gotten to the fun part of the party.”
