A CEO disguised as a cleaner discovered the truth about his company.
Humiliation in front of the entire department
Eventually he reached the part of the company managed by Veronica Miller.
She was a sales star, one of the most influential people in the company and at the same time someone known for her explosive character.
Arthur was cleaning up a coffee stain outside her office when Veronica abruptly stepped into the hallway. She was clearly upset about the order being mishandled.
She looked around for someone to vent her frustration on.
Her gaze stopped on him.
Arthur took a step back and accidentally touched her hand with the mop handle.
The reaction was immediate.
“Are you blind?!” she shouted so loudly that the entire department fell silent.
« Excuse me, ma’am, I’m just cleaning up… » he replied calmly.
“I don’t care what you do!” she hissed.
She looked at her designer jacket as if it had been ruined.
« Do you even know how much this costs? More than you’ll earn in a whole year! »
Arthur clenched his jaw but betrayed no emotion.
— I apologize again.
Veronica smiled contemptuously.
— You should be grateful they let you work in this building at all.
Then she looked at his bucket.
— Do you like cleaning? Then clean properly.
And she kicked the bucket.
Dirty water spilled across the floor, soaking his shoes and overalls. Laughter erupted in the room. Some laughed nervously, others with obvious satisfaction.
Veronica turned to the gathered people.
« That’s what happens to people without ambition, » she said. « They clean up their own mess. »
After these words she returned to her office and slammed the door.
Arthur stood for a moment in a puddle of dirty water.
Nobody helped him.
No one protested.
No one came to his defense.
He slowly lifted the bucket, collected the water, and finished cleaning.
Then he headed for the service elevator.
He took off his glasses.
He pressed the button leading to the penthouse.
The time has come for the truth.
