How to get rid of mice with this surprising trick
Let’s set up this natural barrier! I promise it will take less than five minutes.
1. Prepare your serving containers.
Gather your small glass or metal lids, or your aluminum trays. You’ll need one for each area you want to protect. Place them on a plate or cutting board to avoid accidentally staining your countertop with essential oil. (Peppermint oil can be irritating if it comes into contact with the skin and you then touch your eyes!)
2. Dress the cotton balls.
Take your cotton balls and place one in each of your small lids. If you’re using whole cloves instead of clove oil, insert 3 or 4 directly into the center of the cotton ball.
3. Mix the magic drops.
Carefully place 15 to 20 drops of peppermint essential oil and 5 drops of clove essential oil directly onto the cotton balls. The cotton should be damp and scented, but not soaking wet.
4. Place your barriers.
Now it’s time to place your repellents around the house. Place these little covers where you suspect mice might be entering or hiding.

Quick tips for success
: Avoid plastic: Never place these cotton balls directly on plastic surfaces or in plastic containers. Pure essential oils can, over time, melt or cloud some plastics. Opt for glass, metal, or aluminum foil.
Replenish regularly: Essential oils evaporate. To maintain the effectiveness of the protective barrier, apply one or two drops of fresh oil to the cotton balls once a week.
